Premier David Eby visit FTI

We had the privilege of hosting Premier David Eby, Minister of Post-Secondary Education Jessie Sunner, and Minister of Labour Jennifer Whiteside on Friday, November 21st. During their visit, they spent meaningful time speaking with our team of Instructors and engaging directly with our apprentices. They also toured our workshops, observing firsthand the high-quality training delivered across the Finishing Trades in British Columbia—including Painting, Glazing, Drywall Finishing, and Lathing.
The BC New Democratic Party of Canada continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to strengthening the skilled trades. This commitment is reflected in a landmark $241-million investment aimed at enhancing BC’s trades training system.
This historic investment will:
• Increase per-seat funding for apprenticeship programs
• Reduce waiting lists for critical industrial trades, improving access to training
• Advance skilled-trades certification initiatives
• Support worker mobility across industries
This is one of the first major investments of this magnitude in nearly two decades.
Investments such as this can be catalysts to ensure BC has strong apprenticeship programs and has enough skilled tradespeople for years to come
